Property investors in the UK could collect higher returns if they shun the domestic market instead, experts have suggested.

Jet-to-Let magazine stated that the recent decline in the economy, which has led to rising inflation and a drop in houses, has “eroded” investors” confidence in the British market.

However, editor Dominic Farrell believes they could find a more favourable environment for investors if they look further afield.

Cyprus was highlighted as one hotspot of activity, as many people are apparently shrugging off concerns about the credit crunch and investing in the market.

Mr Farrell commented: “Cyprus continues to provide a solid, low-risk investment opportunity.”

He added that the Mediterranean island has so far not been overly exposed to the credit crunch, hence its current popularity with foreign investors.

According to Homes Overseas magazine, house prices in Cyprus have risen by more than 18 per cent in the last year.

This suggests that buyers who enter the island’’s property market could benefit from further capital appreciation.
